This is a further evolution of my Opus 39, 'Moonlighting'. Slightly expanded and revised from the most recent version for flute and piano (Op.39 no.2), it follows the same principle as the original work for piano solo: each movement taking as its starting point some aspect of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, as well as paying homage to other composers such as Steve Reich, Arnold Schoenberg and Igor Stravinsky. The duet versions also add an entirely new finale, 'Mirrored Moonlight', where for the first time Beethoven joins hands with Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.
